We meet with clients interested in starting their own business who come to us with ideas such as dog sitting, burger vans, sewing alterations, hairdressing, window cleaning and plumbing. On this page are a few sucessful examples.

Emma Hazlewood of Salterbeck, Workington, came to us to talk through her idea for her own business, a cleaning and de-cluttering service called House Proud.

Emma said: "We've moved a lot - eight times in 12 years - so I always have a good clean and de-clutter before each move.

"I saw a piece in the paper about Way into Self Employment. They're all about helping you and taking your ideas a step forward. It's nice as well because their service is free. The advice doesn't cost anything.

"Working for myself means I can fit the jobs into the schedule with the children."

Ann Holmes, an artist from Workington, is working on an idea to make money from recycling. You can read the recent News & Star article on her butterfly art crafted from drinks cans here.
